Behind the Scenes: How Goalkeeping Gloves Are Made 🧤

Goalkeeping gloves are more than just essential tools for a goalkeeper; they are the result of hours of meticulous craftsmanship and cutting-edge technology. In this blog, we'll take you on an exclusive journey behind the scenes, providing insights into the process of how our goalkeeping gloves are made.

1.Materials Matter

The journey begins with an exploration of the materials used in crafting these specialized gloves. Most gloves are made up of a number of key materials, these can usually be grouped into two groups. Palm materials and back hand materials. The Palm of a goalkeeping glove is by far the most important, this is where you have to weigh up the different qualities each Latex Palm has. Some latex palms are far more grippy than others, however this enhanced grip usually comes at the detriment of durability. Some latex's are much more suited to Astro turf pitches as they aren't as soft. Latex's come in all different grades and quality's with the most popular being a 4mm German contact latex. German Contact Latex is seen as the premium but it's not always the best suited. Here's a guide to some of the common latex palm materials -  Latex guide

Now when it comes to Back hand/body materials, the possibilities are endless. In recent years the running trend seems to be strapless forms. However in years gone by the preferred back hand would usually be a full latex backhand. You also have materials like Micro mesh, neoprene, airmesh, fabric and now fully stitched back hands. The back and material is usually all down to personal preference, more aimed at style than any from of performance. However some materials are considerably lighter than other which does effect the overall weight of the gloves.

2. Design and Prototyping:
Now whilst we're deciding on a range of materials to use on a new range we also must design the new range. This becomes harder and harder with each year that passes. It seems hard to stand out from the crowd and create something fresh and new, this is usually the most time consuming part of developing a new glove range. We start initially from sketching rough on paper form, then take these designs to the computer and craft files that we can send directly to our manufacturing side. From initial sketches to prototyping it can take many months to perfect a glove design. Even once the design if finalised it will often see 2-5 revisions once we have the samples back from our manufactures. We will usually sample a number of different cuts and colour schemes when getting samples to make sure the design isn't impacted when these other cuts are used. Once we are happy with the prototypes we will then send them out to a handful of our trusted keepers and coaches to undergo rigorous testing before reaching the final product stage.

3. Cutting-Edge Technology:
Modern glove production incorporates state-of-the-art technology. 3D printing, silicone injection, plastic moulding & CAD modeling, and other innovations that play a crucial role in enhancing the performance and quality of our goalkeeping gloves.

4. Precision Stitching:
The stitching process is where functionality meets aesthetics. This is the most over looked aspect of the whole process. A high quality fixing and stitching separates a basic gloves from a high end premium product. The small details really matter and lead to pure comfort when stitched correctly. The majority of our gloves are stitched by machine operated by only the best craftsman. The stitching techniques employed to ensure durability, flexibility, and an optimal fit. From rolled fingers to flat cuts, we'll unravel the secrets behind each style.

5. Quality Control and Testing:
Goalkeepers demand perfection, and rightly so! Our manufacturers understand the importance of stringent quality control. Each Pair is checked throughly and goes through a 6 stage process before it even leaves the factory.
