Goalkeeper Glove Size Chart By Age
Buying gloves for a young keeper and not sure where to start? Hand size varies a lot between kids of the same age, so this is a general guide rather than an exact rule — always measure where you can — but it's a solid starting point.
Age-Based Size Guide
- Ages 5-7 — typically glove size 4-5
- Ages 8-9 — typically glove size 5-6
- Ages 10-11 — typically glove size 6-7
- Ages 12-13 — typically glove size 7-8
- Ages 14+ — usually moving into adult sizes 8 and up
Measuring Properly
For the most accurate fit, measure from the tip of the middle finger to the base of the palm in centimetres, then add roughly 1cm for comfort. Full details in our Glove Size Guide.
Why Fit Matters More For Younger Keepers
A glove that's too big is actually more of a problem than one that's slightly snug — loose material bunches in the palm and gets in the way of catching cleanly, which can knock a young keeper's confidence. If you're between sizes, size down rather than up.
